Jackets

• Nothing finishes the look like a jacket
• Lots of choices: Longer "boyfriend" styles, shorter fitted ones, asymmetrical zippers Colors add energy
• Raw edges, folds, ruching - "Work it"
• Denim is in everything. Wear it "up-top" - not just jeans

"THE DRESS"

• NOW is the time for a dress: They are spectacular
• Prints and solids. Florals are everywhere
• Embellishment: stones, beads, studs, gromets, ruffles & cutouts, fabric flowers
• Cardigans are available to give sleeves

Tops/Sweaters

• Cardigans galore - many with a soft billowing front
• Embellishment on tops: stones, studs, art
• New light weight summer knits
• Tops/sweaters get longer as bottoms get leaner

Blouses

• Blouses are feminine - ruffles, for example
• Sheer fabrics. Also "no-iron" fabrics
• Blouses are "essentials" of the season

Skirts

• Shorter flirty shapes
• Longer skirts are more available this spring
• Prints: florals & artistic prints
• Uneven hems
• Folded and ruched fabrics

Pants

• Make way for slim/skinny styles
• Wide legs too
• Rule: If it doesn't flatter, don't go there

Accessories

• 'Accessories are the way people tell their stories says Philip Crangi, jewelry designer.' (In Style Mag, Aug 2009) So mix it, pile it,...'tell your story'
• Necklaces are still making a statement: bold, exciting styles
• Mixed media, multi strands, chains, chunky resin, pearls (new ways)
• Flower motif is important in jewelry
• The "KEY" motif , made popular by Tiffany
• Bangles & big rings
• Oblong scarves for the neck: sheers, crinkle gauze, irridescents
• Belts are wide or skinny. Colors are used for "pop"
• Chains, studs, stones, etc on bags & belts
• Bags have released pleats & tucks
• Cross-body bags were on the runways
• Shoes make fashion statements for summer. Grecian sandals are HOT!

TIP: You do not need to “match” accessories. It is more modern to mix textures & colors.
